How about asking Messrs Hinds and Luncheon what has happened with the “proposal” from a United States of America based company that would have collected “all the garbage” that could have been obtained in and around the City of Georgetown in Guyana and convert this to electrical power to be used throughout that part of the country and the city would have been clean as a whistle. But none the less – that country is “owned” by the present PPP Administration; and, you get what you “vote” for. Additionally, think in terms of the savings in foreign exchange for the country. 8-)

Evileyes you know that Guyana is not ready for tourism. The country has the potential but there are huge stumbling blocks in the way. Only to name one, CRIME –tourist wantto travel to places where they feel safeand unfortunately that is not Guyana . I live in a small island (dont worry about the flag ,its wrong)where the crime rate is no where the crime rate is no where close to that in Guyana but its on the increase and tourist are threatening to go to other places. So unless the crime rate is curbed in Guyana tourism will never be viable.

Forget ‘Resorts’ , Casinos and Big Hotels.
Have drinking water out of every tap, electric light everywhere 24 hour a day, have the country so well policed that visitors never have to think about personal security, no dead animals by the roadside or piles of plastic bottles on the shoreline, fresh milk in every community and Guyana won’t be short of visitors —– but be over-run with them!

yea they should , but before they do this first guyana needs to fix it’s infrastructure , running water at the twist of the wrist, uninterupted power supply, stop the crime situation, reintroduce its own airways ect,ect, ect. then they might want to exstensively market the economy with advertising being done on the world newnetworks( in the case of jamaica and barbados) cnn, bbc, abc, fox,ect, have its ministers of the govt make international trips abroad to convince would be investers to invest in guyana (in the case of the hoyte era) and such likes before they even attempt to lure tourists to our beutiful guyana, the only reasonable tourists secter which i believe is showing potiential is the bird watching and wild life tourist industry and the govt should inprove thier efforts in this regards.

How about privatizing the airport and sell large tracts of land in the interior to North American investors to invest in tourism infrastructure given that the Chinese and Russians apparently have an high percentage stake in the once “nationalized and Guyanese-run” bauxite industry in Guyana. Whether or not this is as a result of incompetence or not on the part of Guyanese – after all, you get what you “vote” or “pay” for. :-(

Tourism is the biggest business in the world. Guyana as it is is not a tourist destination. Georgetown needs to be transformed from Garbage city to Garden City.
I have read several times about Marriott being involved in new hotel in Kingston. They are better off investing their name in Barbados. Guyana is yet to learn about the tourism business .

Thanks for the prompting “Charriot”; and, the thing is some politicians and economists like there are apparently in Guyana are sooooo……. blinded by dislike and ignorance that they cannot see beyond certain distances and better yet – when the rain or trouble comes it does not fall on the door steps of the have-nots only; besides, the country really, really need to open up that interior – What they are waiting for in that country is beyond one’s wildest thinking. God forbids a recalcitrant ICBM from – (let us say IRAN or one ah dem rogue boys!!! at the rate of things) would land on their heads.. 8-) or the experience a Tsuname wave on Guyana’s shoreline with the Atlantic caused by a massive movement of the “fault line” under the Atlantic. 8-)

I am quite sure that (with the right infrastructures airport, hotels etc etc in place) there would be millions and millions of people around the world who would love to have a “close up view” of that magnificent water fall which is – THE KAIETEUR!
