Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton on Monday refused bail to a 17-year-old who allegedly had in his possession a firearm and two rounds of ammunition when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Jason Gooding pleaded not guilty to the charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition when they were read to him.

It is alleged that on October 3, Gooding had in his possession one pistol and two rounds of ammunition without being the holder of a valid firearm licence.

The accused was remanded to prison and he has to appear in court on December 12.

It is automatic. One year each for a bullet. I agree.A gun is another matter. 20 years in a light sentence. The indication here is that this youth kept the gun and ammo with the intention of committing a crime. He has to pay the consequences.
