A 22-year-old man who allegedly abducted his former girlfriend at gunpoint was remanded yesterday by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Devon Williams of 169 James Street, Albouystown was not required to plead to the charge of abduction when it was read to him.
It is alleged that on October 3 he abducted Yolanda Taylor, a woman with whom he previously shared a relationship.
According to the prosecution, on the day in question Williams put a gun to the virtual complainant’s (VC) hip and ordered her to walk. Williams, the prosecution said, threatened to kill the woman if she tried to escape. He led her to a car and took her to his house against her will.
Williams reportedly told the woman that the relationship couldn’t “end so”, the prosecutor further said. It was only after the accused fell asleep that the VC managed to escape. She went to the nearest police station and made a report.
The gun which Williams allegedly used to threaten the VC was discovered to be the property of a businessman from whom it was stolen. The accused later appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.
Magistrate Robertson refused bail and the matter is due for report next Friday.

The woman would be free for a very long time, because this is a career criminal who would be in jail for least a 15 years.
here is a question. when people like these do things like this do they ever think about the laws of the land and the consequences?
Guess they don’t. Now he will have a lot of time to reflect on his actions and how many inches his cell….. would have for him.
Young men – If the woman says NO then let it be – There are so many more young women available and willing, Just keep looking and be a gentleman about it!
no they dont, and they dont care, it’s GUYANA
if he had leave the woman alone,a gun would have been in the hand of an animal, maybe he would rob or kill somebody.it is just time now for the woman to get some peace, coz u should spent the next 20 years in jail,if he get out early she have to run.
