What kind of people live in Schenectady lately? One week you read of Guyanese youths gunning down another Guyanese in the middle of the night and this one. And this person just live down the street from where the recent murder occur?

Did they ever find out why that young man got gunned down?

Here after nearly 30 yrs Michael, some Guyanese are the same as at home and worse here. Trust me, go reside in Liberty, Jamaica Avenue, Richmond Hill and Hollis etc, then come again. That’s the reason I sold my home and went to a better State away from NY. And don’t forget Brownsville, Utica Avenue, Flatbush Avenue and those other areas; shameful how they lime there, receiving u know what?

He’s such an a**, he could have returned to Guyana, without killing her, these men like to rule women, he thought he was in Guyana, now he’ll learn, others take note, never, it’s like a war out there, if a woman don’t want these loosers, that’s the first thing they resort to, “ME CAN’T GET U, NO ONE ELSE WOULD.”and this killing wasn’t only about he wanting to leave for Guyana, it’s more, just that families not saying.

Sand, I’ve been here nearly 30 yrs, so I know the rules, the US would give him time, with good behavior, his age, coupled with if he never committed a crime in Guyana, he would only serve some time, when his case is heard, he would be told of the amount of time he has to serve and that after serving, he’ll be deported back to his Country, on completion of time the judge alotted, he would be forthwith taken to the airport under guard and arrived at Guyana’s airport, where the CID division, would take him to CID to be finger printed and whatever else they do there, then released, (not sure of other procedures done in Guyana,) as Guyanese says, “nah tek worries.)

As a 20 year resident of Schenectady, NY, to those of you in Guyana, Yetraj will likely receive “Life in Prison” as his sentence. To those of you unfamiliar with out city, it is adjacent to Albany, the Capital of New York State. It is the original home of General Electric and was at one time known as the “Electric City”. It is 150 miles north of New York City.

Division Street, where Yetraj and his wife live, is a downtrodden area of Schenectady. About 6-8 years ago, our mayor at the time, traveled to Guyana to encourage the Guyanese to settle here. And you have, in the thousands. In fact, in many areas of the town the Guyanese outnumber original residents. Our Mayor’s idea was to rejuvenate a city that was dying and falling into disrepair.

For the most part your countrymen have been a benefit to our city. Yes, it is somewhat like living in your country as there are so many of you here, but from what I have seen you are a respectful, hard working, family oriented people that have stemmed the flow our city’s decline. As a Mail Carrier, I delivered to many Guyanese families for several years and never met a one that I felt would bring disrespect upon your people or your nation.

While this event is a tragic occurrence, I just wanted to give you a little background on where this event happened.
