Correction

On page 23 of  last Sunday’s edition of this newspaper under the caption ‘New volume of the Arts Journal now available’ it was reported that the latest issue of the journal, Volume 4, Nos 1 and 2 offered a comprehensive discussion of the Abolition of the Slave Trade and its consequences for the Caribbean.

In fact it was the previous issue which dealt with the Slave Trade, while the current edition is devoted to new interpretations on the experiences of East Indians in British Guiana and the West Indian islands, a press release from the Arts Journal said.

The release goes on to refer to several articles by some of the region’s leading scholars which “analyse neglected areas of history and literature that have not previously been examined.”

The statement said there was also an “Art Section,” two interviews, new creative writing and book reviews, which would be useful to teachers and students as well as appealing to the wider public.

Sunday Stabroek apologises for the error.
