Several students residing in the female dormitory of the Santa Rosa Secondary School, Moruka, North West District, have been hospitalized with a mysterious illness.
According to a statement from the police, investigations are being conducted into a report that between Wednesday and Thursday, thirteen female students who occupy the dormitory, complained of headaches and stomach pains and “were behaving in an unusual manner.”
They were medically examined at the Kumaka District Hospital where two of them have been admitted for observation.

Stabroek News was told on Saturday that more students began showing the same symptoms and they too had to be medically examined.

Reports are that there was a similar incident at the dormitory almost two years ago but things went back to normal after parents removed their children.

There is something in the dormitory that is causing this illness. It could be the wall paint, resin in the furniture, floor polish or stain,or a natural gas emitting through the floors.
