Ghalee Khan, the 31-year-old businessman and promoter, who was busted last week after a cocaine drop was made at a New York location has been granted US$200,000 bail by Justice Ramon E. Reyes.

One of the conditions of his bail is that Khan, who is a US citizen, cannot make contact with his co-accused Danvor Griffith. The accused, along with four suretors, signed his bond.

Khan, who is represented by state attorney Michael Weil is charged with distributing cocaine. Information on the case is limited as the complaint was ordered sealed by Justice Reyes.

The two men were reportedly tracked after leaving Guyana, but were allowed to leave the JFK airport to make the drop before they were busted. Khan was being watched as he travelled on a flight from Trinidad to the US.

Griffith, 38, had appeared before the Brooklyn Federal court last week Monday on narcotics-related charges and was granted US$250,000 bail on the condition that his mother sign over her house to the US government by early yesterday morning.

Court records had indicated that Khan arrived in the US on Sunday. Federal agents had detected cocaine stashed in the rails and handles of his suitcase but allowed him to leave the airport to make the delivery.

It was reported by Capitol News that a major shipment of luxury items within the past two weeks and the arrest and conviction of an associate in Georgetown resulted in the Khan and Griffith being placed on the authorities’ radar.

No particular sympathies for the moms and other close relatives in these high profile drama, as in many cases they are used as fronts to conceal the assets of these guys.

I would not be easily convinced that Khan’s mom is the average home owner struggling to make monthly mortgage payments, so spare me the drama about him making them homeless.

They were tracked since in Guyana?

That means the US has agents in Guyana right now!

And does the fact the men were busted in the US and not Guyana mean the US still does not trust the Guyana Government?

…..you must be playing devil’s advocate to ask the questions above! Just look at the size of the Us Embassy in Kingston..and tell me how many US companies are doing business in GT! And then ask yourself why on earth they would need such a huge secured structure…if they weren’t doing important work in the country. As to the issue of trust, ask yourself another question. Which other Caribbean country has had its ministers’ visas revoked by the USA?

But these are the “innocent looking ” ppl who we don’t know are involved in the drug trade.Ppl everyone looks innocent on the street, until something happens and then we find out what they are involved in. It’s up to the Gov’t to stop the drugs from comming in the country, but who knows MAYBE these same ppl are also involved.WE JUST HAVE TO PRAY for Guyana.
