It is indeed sad that she has passed on. She epitomised African music in english lyrics. Her famous ‘Pata Pata’ will live on as a favourite worldwide.
May I also use this space to comment on the passing of Byron Lee of BL&D fame. World and Caribbean music played in his inimitable style for easy listening and dancing! There is a song titled Julianne which he wrote, named after and dedicated to his daughter shortly after her birth.
They are both entertaining the Angels now! May their Souls Rest In Peace.

you are right sir, you are so right!! The editor need to deh pon he heights sometimes….you know some of the nonsense people like “evil eyes” macky dog” and “Lambada” to name a few writes on this site about some people in society and they actually print it.

i am saddened to learn about the death of miriam makeba,i remembed when guyana was graced with her presence years back when i was still in school, i applauded her resilient struggle in her fight to end apartheid, and support to the movement of freedom fighters in south africa, africa and the african music environment has lost a couragious fighter for freedom.
