Man died as a result of brain haemorrhage – PM

A post-mortem examination performed on Rickford Barker, the man whose battered body was found in a cemetery at Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara last Saturday has revealed that he died as a result of brain haemorrhage.

A police press release stated that Dr Nehaul Singh performed the examination and gave the cause of death as brain haemorrhage.

Barker of Hyde Park, Timehri was found dead in the cemetery with marks of violence about his body last Saturday.

On Tuesday, Commander of `A’ Division Leroy Brumell had told this newspaper that five persons have so far been held over the death of the 35-year-old man while several others are being sought.

Reports reaching Stabroek News are that some time during last Friday night, residents caught Barker, who was recently released from prison, attempting to break into a shop in the area. The man was then subjected to a merciless beating at the hands of a group of residents who after realizing that he was dead dumped the body in a nearby cemetery and covered it with  a piece of board. Barker was discovered the following morning around 10:10.
Investigations into his death are ongoing.

Recently released from prison, and beaten to death, for attempt break and enter..but why remove the body from where he was killed.. Would have to pay for murder before the courts, five caught and searching for several others.

I dont condone the actions of the criminal, but I think people should think twice before taking the law in their own hands unless it is in self defence. What happened here was sheer lawlessness. Guess they adopted it from those who are paid to upkeep the law, and they felt satisfied they did something good until the consequences hit home.
