CPR could have help only if they had known to perform it .A person with electric shock does not need limacol and methylated to rub them down.,that would cause her death instantly.Just imagine electricity running through your body,your blood is trying up,your body getting cold and on top of that methylated rubbing on you-cardiac arrest.Know your first aid,check your ABC’s-cardiopulmonary resusitation is important.So sad,my heartfelt sympathy to all relatives and friends of the deceased,especially to her parents whom i have known for years.May her soul rest in peace.

i respect your response, but i say insensitive in that the woman is dead and it is no use casting senseless blame when it is a very tragic situation. often times we tend to be so critical of each other when we ourselves are not any better. we are all human and we all do make mistakes. it is very unfortunate this mistake caused a life and she is not coming back. it is a time to be more supportive to the family

How come you always miss the boat? It is not the stores that sold the appliance that has caused this problem. It is wet hands on a plug where the appliance was not connected to a Ground Fault breaker.Learn boy.

ONE this women is my aunt and is straight blood to me. TWO none of you here can say that you havent made a simple mistake that has either hurt you in some way cause of carelessness. Show some respect. she wasnt being lazy she was cleaning her house. Sometimes your forget to do something. in this case my aunt lost her life. She left this world, she left her husband and her two kids who will have to live in this world with no mother. So dont go as say something hatefull and as disrespectful. Her family can read what you say so dont run your mouth like you know this person. There are no excuses for ingnorance. You wouldnt want to hear anyone say something like that about you or your family if that happened to you or them.

Tragedies like this make me wonder what kind of quacks are wiring homes in Guyana these days. If electrical circuits are installed properly with proper materials, the risk of fire and electrocution are minimised and very rare. I have my suspicions about sub-standard electrical materials like cables, fasteners, outlets, load centers, etc that are not UL rated or maybe just plain wrong for the job. I have even greater suspicions about just how knowledgeable those clowns are who go about Guyana representing themselves as “electricians” when they don’t even know the basics of electrical installation. The choice of electric materials is always determined by the intended demand or possible “load” they would handle. It’s so heartbreaking to see good decent people victimized by quacks and charlatans.

The most important lesson to learn from this tragic incident is that all households, especially those using 220 volts, should check and make sure that the earth wire in the house wiring system is securely connected, not broken anywhere, and is grounded with a pipe into the earth; and that all three wires in any and every plug are connected.
Secondly, there should be no blame game. Almost every person at some time came close to be electrocuted either by accident or “stupidity”. I, personally should have been killed three/ four times already, once by accidentally stepping into water in which there was a submerged live wire (110 volts), and another time cleaning my inground fountain during a thunderstorm, my clothing being all drenched.
Thirdly guys, when a young man (Sandhurst) readily recognizes his error and and immediately apologizes, why do some continue to rub the salt in? To errr in human, to apologize in manly, but to forgive is divine. Reminds me of the time I accidentally bumped into a woman in a store in GT (I think it was she who accidentally bumped into me). I immediately apologized to her. But she still carried on for ten minutes thereafter in some very colorful Guyanese idioms.

Sand Hurst, you were a bit harsh with this lady, but I must say you were MAN enough to apologise.Is there a dept of consumers affairs in GT? If there is such a dept, dont you think that manufacturers should place visible warning signs on these appliances, or GPL with its eratic power suppy should have public service announcement highlighting certain dangers?I know some of us will say “this is common sense “, well, all of us are not electricians or physicists to know that.I am sorry this young man has lost his wife.
