The body of an unidentified woman was discovered floating in the Berbice River just about 6.45 pm yesterday.

Police, in a press release said that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the woman, who is of East Indian descent.

The body was found floating in the Berbice River in the Palmyra area.
Police said that the woman was believed to be in her mid-thirties, with black hair; slimly built with brown complexion; her height was about 5’6” and she was clad in a blue jersey and blue pants at the time of discovery. The body is at the New Amsterdam Hospital mortuary.

Anyone who has information that may lead to the identification of the body is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-2227, 333-2151 to 4, 333-2191, 911 or the nearest police station, the statement said.

    I hope she gets a decent burial, if left unidentified.
