GPL says Berbicians will receive a more reliable supply of power now that its Mirrlees generator is back online.
In a press release the company said that on Tuesday the 5MW Mirrlees generator at Canefield was added to the Berbice Interconnected System after having undergone major repairs. It said the generator is operating at optimum capacity and power to the area will now be more stable.
GPL said it appreciates the patience and cooperation residents expressed during the time the engine was down.

GPL, FYI, there was no wilful patience or cooperation given to you for your incompetence to provide power so please don’t say you “appreciate the patience and cooperation residence expressed”. What we actually expressed was DISGUST, not patience, we had no other option because we didn’t have our own generators.
Maybe if you had a proper maintenance plan and competent technicians you won’t have to apologise to the paying customers and citizens for the agony you caused and then apologise saying you’re thankful for our “patience”. WE WERE DISGUSTED, not patient nor cooperative wilfully.
GPL, my flag may say America but I was in Guyana during that time, it made me remember the days of the PNC with constant long blackouts, one reason why I left Guyana and now to return to the same s**t was not impressive so stop apologising.
I’m still awaiting the connection of power and a meter on my property which I had payed for since the last 2 years.
….”it made me remember the days of the PNC”….
tut ,tut mackydog what are you really saying here? being Freudian?
I’m saying that I would’ve expected that electricity had been improved but although there are things in place for constant supply of electricity, some people still behave as they did during the PNC ERROR, they just simply cannot change and although its a new regime, these GPL people are not learning how to be reliant behaving like blackouts is ok.
That’s what I’m saying Balgobind-Hackett.
GPL and the Government should stop apologising and start paying for the hundred of millions of dollars of damages, of perishable food, fish, meats etc; which are being thrown out, in addition to water shortage, as a result of GPL’s inefficiency and daily ‘blackouts’.
Adding insult to injury, generally, there is little or no warning or information from GPL or the authorities prior to these ‘blackouts’.
GPL needs practical engineers not desk engineers. The university is a big joke. All major repairs at GPL are done by foreign companies.Minor repairs are done by local desk engineers in a haphazard manner. There are too many technical and commercial losses at GPL.A lot of money was spent recently on this entity but it is still very inefficient.A big shake up at GPL is needed. Some executive and regional managers are inefficient and must be replaced.Mr Robert Corbin and Dharamdeo Sawh use to visit GPL very frequently when GPL had problems in the PNC days. You do not see any PPP minister visiting GPL now except for Dr Jagan when he was alive.I am very disappointed with the PPP.The PNC is a better party than the PPP.President Hoyte spend a lot of money on GPL too. It’s a pity he lost the election. The PNC will get back in power.People in Guyana are fed up with the PPP.
eh eh.. still Freudian. a case for Freddy Kissoon to analyze
