For over a decade, Mr. Ralph Ramkarran and Mr. Moses Nagamootoo, have been shut out as presidential canidates, by the communist ideolouges in the leadership of the PPP.
With the present level of dissent, acrimony and vying for power within the PPP; Mr. Jeffrey’s diplomatic posting along with others, is a ‘clearing of the deck’ for the 2011elections.
Diplomatic appointment and posting, are old methods employed by political administrations, to remove those within, who are viewed as a threat.
In the political calculation of the PPP’s communist ideolouges, who wields tremendous control of the party’s organisational apparatus; Mr. Henry is seen as someone ’sleeping with the enemy’, a potential threat and thus his diplomatic posting and ‘exit’.
The exclusion of the popular Mr. Ramkarran and the charismatic Mr. Nagamootoo, from the presidential canidacy of the PPP, however, may come at a significant price to the organisation.
Already, long standing and leading members of the PPP, have indicated their dissatisfaction of the direction the party is going, in terms Presidential canidate for the 2011 election.
The PPP got 37% of the votes in the last national election; one of the lowest in its history, despite the massive amount of money and manpower pumped into the election campaign.
If the present level of discontent within the ranks of the PPP, is one of the factors to be considered in the PPP’s prospects of winning the next election, then, there is likely to be significant, if not dramatic disappointments.
The forces of hegemony and dissent, are quite evident by these diplomatic ‘postings’ and political ’shut outs’, they are likely to damage the PPP in ways its communist ideolouges have not anticipated.

My friends,
I don’t disagree with any y’all, but while I ain’t no fan of te PPP, let’s be fair – they won all the elections and can basically put any pacoo in any position. They have that right.
As Guyanese citizens, we have the right to not vote for them if we don’t agree.
The problem however, is a viable opposition … We need to find a new Rodney.

Let me end with this.
The condition of a people will not change until the people themselves change.

totally agree with you fulano, although the civic members are in strong positions of the govt they are not deemed to be members of the party and are only there as a `sham’ they really cannot make any major decisions on their own, unless directed by janet jagan who is the `real’ president.

Therefore, if any CIVIC Member cannot become the President of Guyana then what kind on nonsensical arrangements are these to have CIVIC Members perpetually unable to become the duly elected President of Guyana?

“Minister of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation Dr Henry Jeffrey” should consider running for the Office of President in Guyana at the next general elections to be held in that country.

The Civic component of the PPP is defunct. Sam is a rubber stamp. The PPP component has ALL authority to do whatever it feels with the party & the govt. as is clearly visible here.

In 1992, Cheddi Jagan wanted to appear more inlcusive governing Guyana so he picked certain non-PPPites as members of the Ciciv arm of the PPP government. With Sam Hinds being the only one left, will Jagdeo retain Jagan’s move by replacing all departing Civic members with other Civic members? Or will he destroy the concept now that he appears to have the PPP and the government firmly under his control?
