Relatives of a Canada-based Guyanese believe that the body of a woman which was last week found in a yard at Fifth Street, Alberttown may be hers.
The woman was initially identified only as ‘Donna’ and her body is still at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary.
There were no marks of violence on the body, which a hospital ambulance took to the medical institution where the woman was pronounced dead.
Relatives of 58-year-old Shirool Ali told Stabroek News via email that they last heard from her on October 31, when she indicated that she had found an apartment in Queenstown. No contact was made with her since.
However, they said, another relative had called last week to say that the woman had been in her yard “wandering about” some weeks back; that relative has since returned to New York.
The woman was described as being of Indian descent, light complexion, five feet two inches tall, with weight of about 150 pounds.
Relatives said that Ali, who was mentally ill, had left Canada to come to Guyana to stay with other relatives but no one took her in because of her condition.

Is this what we do to family these days…ship them off? This is sad and I hope those that shipped her off feel the guilt for the rest of their horrid lives.
So sad, because of her mental illness was rejected by her families, now the least be claimed to be buried.
Who in the Right mind would send this Mentally challenged woman to Guyana?……Canada has the best health care system in world…..If she is indeed a Canadian Citizen…then charges will be laid for the person (s) responsibile for sending her to the worst mental asylum in the world. My heart goes out to her relatives…just another case of Genocide against women in Guyana.
DP, get it straight!!! She was sent by relatives to Guyana. Look them up and get us bloggers the details.
Canada has the best health care system in the world??? Which part in Canada are you in…I will move there .
Very far from the truth. There is huge shortage of doctors, wait times(as much as 8 hours in the emergency section) at the hospitals is many times longer than Guyana.
Perhaps for major surgeries etc but basic health care Canada cannot be ranked among the top.
I must agree with you that it is cruel to send this woman back to Guyana. But many Canadians do not take care of their aging parents..putting them in substandard senior homes and rarely visiting.
Its unfortunate that people around the world do not take care of the vulnerable.
so sad indeed
sooooo sad
WHY WOULD HER OWN FAMILY MEMBER’S REJECT HER ,BECAUSE SHE WAS MENTALLY ILL THAT’S SO SAD NOW THAT SHE’S DEAD DEW TO THERE REJECTION HOPE THEY FIND IT IN THERE HEARTS TO BURY HER MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE.
so sorry to hear this…………I know of some Guyanese people who are ashamed of relatives who are mentally ill ….they do not want to be seen with them…….
may she RIP.
i know some who are ashamed of their parents when their friends are around, they have to go and stay in the basement, this is no joke.
Now all her earthly problems are over. May her Soul R.I.P.
This woman was first rejected by her relatives in Canada, so they shipped her home in hopes that someone else in the family takes her in. Her chances in Canada were greater than her going to Guyana. If anyone is to be blamed, it should be the relatives in Canada. May she haunt them all until they repent their sins.
This is so sad, they (her relatives) I feel dumped her when they had the best facilities to care for her mental illness in Canada, if this is the case, shame on them,,,,they are not good people. They should have taken care of her, no if’s and’s or but’s,,,,
Now i get d tru pture. These folks actually neglected their relative, because of her condition, and have d nerve to blah- blah on the internet. As far as i am concerned, the want to ensure dat she is dead.Things will be better for dem now.
in N.A. no one has time for the sick, the poor or handicap, to them they are a burden,
and it’s costing them the green back.
it all boils down to moneyyyyyyyyyyy.
