Without getting too basic about this zainno, I agree with evileyes that wholescale adoption of Shariah law is NOT THE ANSWER.

Whereas I do see sense in the death penalty (by cynaide injection) for premeditated murder; you must bear in mind that it was SOBER SHARIA LAW users who slaughtered 300 innocent civilians in cold blood in Mumbai last week.

It is indeed a great worry that there are stupid people carrying guns in Guyana and those bloggers who advocate the right to bear arms for everyone in Guyana should learn a lesson from this tragic news.

Was it the case of he playing Russian roulet or just plain inexperience in handling a gun . In my experience –a gun does not go off accidently –it requires a certain amount of pressure on the trigger . His wife claimed that he did have a gun –was it a case that he had an illegal gun for his protection while working .
Whatever it was –it ended up a sad case for him and his family .My heart goes out to them .

Suggestion. If you are really serious about wanting to educate people about the dangers and consequences of the over consumption of alcohol, just get two or three like-minded people, who are willing to get into the “trenches” to do so SERIOUS work.

Arm yourself with the relevant literature; network with Alcohol Anonymous Association (if one exists in Guyana); get permission from the Education Ministry to go into the schools to speak to kids. Speak with medical professionals and use them as your resource persons to do the lectures; use graphic pixs of what a diseased liver looks like; speak with the pastors, moulvis and pandits to get their permission to speak to the members; get the breweries to give talks on responsible drinking. This list is inexhaustable.

On the other hand bear this REALITY in mind. People will NEVER stop consuming alcohol, whether beer or hard liquor, however, that consumption can be reigned in and constrained. Point is the authorities have to do their part too. I am not the first blogger to say that the Liquor and Licensing Board should strictly enforce the selling of alcohol.

A life is gone I wonder was it by his own hand as I read it looks like he committed suicide or by some one else I am waiting to hear and read about the investgation into this sad story.
To all you bloggers who just use this site to air your stupidity shame on you, stop the jokes and get real these are problems we face every day.

Rum again!!! A certain degree of happy and comfortable life in Guyana drive people to unreasonable heights which go beyond sober and responsible thinkinng. Man is the creator of his own destiny. He is gone but left a young wife with four beautiful children to this vicious world in which we live. My prayers are with her on this her tragic loss of her husband. Sympathy is a mere expression only to comfort and console but the harsh reality is, her life must continue with four children. Bad or ugly habits are born out of blind ignorance.

If this was an accident, then it could have been avoided. When handling a firearm there are rules,that must be obeyed. Rule # 1 Assume every firearm is loaded. R #2 Control the muzzle direction at all time. Meaning the muzzle of a firearm,should not be pointed towards yourself, or any other person. And the MOTHER RULE is NEVER EVER touch a FIREARM while drinking any ALCOHOL. May his soul R.I.P, but stupidity killed him.

if you aquire a gun somehow, the next thing is that you have to know about it’s safety requirements, you must always have the safety latch on at all times unless you are going to use it, this is so in the event you accidently pull the trigger, this would render the weapon useless, my condolences to the bereaved family.

I smell fish something fishie about that story all of a sudden the person who was with him went to use the restroom he kill he self . What kind of friend would leave someone who is drunk with a loaded gun only a fool… lock he up the gun have to be his according to the story the dead man dont own a gun.
