In Guyana everything goes, first off a poor country like little Guyana cannot afford proper Police equipment, I don’t know if you know this but bullet proof kavlar vests have a life,,,, they have to be replaced every 5 years, thats when the material starts to break down and starts to deteorate, same goes for other safety equipment, so you have to live with a false sense of security to take you through the day.

Yu know something yu DEAD right, i hit a jackass one night on the East Coast public road one night while on vacation in 2002,and I will never forget the damage that ass did to my Uncle’s car, but safe to say it could have been worse, I could have swerved and end up dead in a trench, with NO LIGHTS on them roads.

Boy like you never had to deal with a crazy horse, that nearly lick me up a few years ago, up the Eastbank.
Every time I drive in Guyana I have to reset and slowdown, as animals on our roads seems to be part of our culture like peperpot and cookup.
I have never seen a dog catcher in GT, and since the 80s or 90s they stop collecting unattended, cows, donkeys, goats, pigs, horses, etc……………..and transporting them to Moblissa…or some where the famers will appreciate their valve.
Statistics will show that a significant amount of carnage, and destruction to property on the Guyana road, can be attributed to stray animals.
This is one fixable area which the authorities are neglecting to the detriment of my innocent countrymen who can ill afford the repairs if they survive.
Also we need to understand that in the best of conditions motorcycles is a very dangerous form of transportation.

Dogs should be in yards or indoors or in the dog pound or at the GSPCA, not on the streets. I speak from experience. I was attacked by dogs twice on RHT streets. My dogs are always kept in the yard. Always. Always. Always.

Where in the article implied that a helmet was not worn? I guess that is problem with Guyanese always looking for a quick fix, the dogs place were on a leash or in a kennel,I dont see why wearing a helmet should be blamed for persons who has a pet and are irresponsible assuming that no dogs were there for this guy to swerve from he probably would have been on his merry way and you won,t have had any comments. Come on call a spade a spade.

I love animals but there is no way I am going to risk my life and the lives of other people because of a stray animal.

You are righ, Sand-Hurst, pets belong indoors and all those animals we have roaming the streets are pests and they are their because of some irresponsible human. I think Ulric jumps down your throat for no reason sometimes.

I missed the part where the article mentioned anything about helmets. Kindly enlighten me. Do you think the quality of helmets sold in our local stores meets internationally recommended standards??? If so why our policemen still have vests made of cardboard. Go figure, if the madministration cannot adequately equip our policemen/women do you think they will worry about helmet quality.

aaah just genaralizing my friend and not only talking about wearing helmets @ 1.00 am. it is not enforced regardless if it is four day morning or late @ night. no one is blaming anyone only mention it because if they were made to wear safety gear it would become a habit and may or may not help.
