St Lucia’s inaugural music awards was held a week ago and Guyana’s Sonia Noel got the nod to outfit MC Charlene Baptiste.

Noel also attended the glitzy event, rubbing shoulders with many A-list regional and international music industry movers and shakers at the Gaiety on Rodney Bay. A press release from the designer said a special invitation was extended to Noel and she graciously accepted.

The designer was responsible for three of the four wardrobe changes that Baptiste made on the night. Noel was fresh off the Barbados Music Awards where she was named official designer.

According to the release, over 20 awards were handed out with R&B sensation Shayne Ross, copping the most awards. He walked away with awards for Best R&B Single, Best Music Video, and Male Artiste of the Year.

Female Artiste of the Year Minelle Delice, also captured the award for Best Calypso Single. Band of the Year award went to the Royal St Lucia Police Band, while Special Blend walked away with the Album of the Year and Best Christmas Song awards. Major American record labels were in attendance to view the event.

Noel’s clothing line is available in St Lucia and she has plans to open a boutique there. She is also making plans to host a charity event called, “Fashion In Times of Crisis” during the esteemed and highly anticipated St Lucia Jazz Festival in May.
