This year’s Miss Bartica Regatta contestants were sashed on Saturday last at the Kool Breeze Resort.

The nine contestants are all Barticians and are all individually sponsored by local business entities operating in Bartica.

The Ministry of Tourism was represented by Tracy Chee-a-tow who delivered a message on behalf of Minister Manniram Prashad.

According to the message, the regatta will serve, “to elevate sports tourism in Guyana and general tourism development for Bartica as a whole. Bartica has been deemed as Guyana’s premier yachting port of entry and has already begun to see the interest that yachters are taking in Guyana as a safe haven.”

The message also congratulated the regatta pageant delegates stating that they should use their charisma and confidence to serve Bartica proud as true ambassadors to the country.

Standup comedy from Henry Rodney and team were among other items on the programme at the ceremony.
