In a departure from its usual comedy and dinner scene, the Upscale Restaurant is the venue for the Guyana Fashion Weekend (GFW) ‘Fashionistas’, a model audition and fashion party, slated for Friday August 8 from 6 pm.

According to a press release from Kofi Branch of the Design Factor, the fashion party is the latest addition to the list of events that GFW will host.

Male and female models between the age of 16-25 are asked to show up at the Upscale at Hinck and Regent streets to audition to be a part of the fashion event. Female models are reminded to walk with their heels to strut their stuff before the judges. All models should walk with a photo if they have one.

The fashion party will take the form of an after-work lime, which goes straight into the night with great music, flat screen televisions and pool tables to keep patrons entertained all night. Persons attending are asked to dress like fashionistas in the latest trends or fashion or come up with a fashionable design of their own.

The second annual GFW will be staged from October 1 -5. It will feature the creative energy of Guyanese, Caribbean, North American and European designers in over three nights of exhilarating fashion.

Models needing more information may contact GFW’s administrator at 613-7457
