Eight Caribbean countries participated in the first annual ‘Fashion Has No Borders’ fashion show held in Canada recently, and according to reports the designers took the event “by storm.”

Guyana was represented by Michelle Cole-Rose of ColeFacts, while other participating countries included Trinidad, St Lucia, Jamaica, Grenada, St Vincent, Haiti and Barbados

According to a press release the Caribbean designers “dominated the Canadian market as they presented their ready to wear collections to an audience of over 800 guests.”

It was stated that all the designers received favourable reviews during the television interviews.
Reports are that Rodney Powers, Fashion Director for the event, told the media in Canada that it was fantastic working with the Caribbean designers and that “preparing them for the Canadian market was vital in maintaining a competitive edge in the fashion industry.”

It is expected that the Caribbean designers would be signed on to labels and be provided with marketing, distribution and manufacturing opportunities.
