Holiday treats for the Sidewalk

Local designer Donette Brotherson brings ‘Holiday Treats’ to the Sidewalk Cafe next Friday evening.

Giving The Scene a sneak preview into the upcoming show, Donette, who is just back from the British Virgin Islands (BVI) where she participated in the fashion weekend, said the show would not just be about her designs as two artists will be exhibiting their pieces while there will also be dancing and singing. Members of the National School of Dance will perform, while one of the runners-up in last year’s Miss Renaissance, Dawn Thompson, will sing. Mark Ferdinand will also sing.

The show will kick start at 7.30 pm. Donette’s line to be modelled is called DonJ’ Holiday Collection.

Donette described her experience in the BVI as great, while stating that she was not the only Guyanese participating in the show as there was also well known designer Sonia Noel and another designer from Guyana. She told The Scene that her participation stemmed from her friend sending her the web link of the organisers’ website. She made contact and after being accepted she sponsored herself to attend the October 9 to 11 show. She said that her pieces were well received and she has a few orders from new clients.

Following her participation Donette was interviewed and is expected to be featured in the next edition of the Liat’s in-flight magazine and the well known She magazine from St Lucia.
