Red Cross volunteer alert

The Guyana Red Cross says that given the torrential rains, it is on flood alert and the organization is inviting past and present volunteers to attend a meeting tomorrow at its Eve Leary Headquarters.

The meeting will commence at 4pm, the Red Cross said in a press release. It has issued a call for all volunteers who assisted in the 2005 flood relief including persons with health, environmental, and engineering backgrounds to attend the meeting. Volunteers, who were trained in the Vulnerability and Capacity Assessments, First Aid, National Intervention teams, SPHERE and general volunteers are also invited.

Persons needing more information can contact Pryia Rai-Griffith, Disaster Management Coordinator at the Guyana Red Cross Headquarters, the release said.
