Vendor robbed when bus stopped at Agricola

Rajdai Ramotar, a vendor was attacked and robbed at Agricola yesterday by two armed men shortly after one of the men joined the minibus she was travelling in.

Ramotar, age 63 years, boarded the bus at Lenora while one of the men joined at Vreed-en-Hoop, according to a police press release.  The man asked the driver to stop at Agricola and as he disembarked, he pulled a gun.

Police said that another man who was standing in the vicinity of the Agricola post office joined him, and he was also armed with a gun. The men grabbed a handbag with $480,000 from Ramotar and escaped into Agricola. The incident occurred around 10:45 am.

The robbery is being investigated.
