The Zero Tolerance Traffic Enforcement “Operation Safeway”, which commenced on October 25, 2007, has seen 85,642 cases being taken before the Traffic Court up to December 31 last year.

Speeding, with a staggering 22,845 cases, has been the most prevalent offence during Operation Safeway police said in a press release issued last evening. ‘Overloaded mini-bus’ was recorded as second on the list with 6,427 cases.

Meanwhile, failure to wear a seatbelt and driving without a licence both recorded over 2,000 cases.

Among the three least prevalent offences committed during the period were having a tinted vehicle without a permit, careless driving and failure to wear a safety helmet.
