Taxi driver robbed of vehicle at Goedverwagting

Another taxi driver was attacked and robbed of his vehicle, this time at Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara.

According to a police press release at around 8.40 pm on Tuesday taxi-driver Ian Hitkin of Water Street, Kingston, was attacked and robbed by three men, two of whom were armed with handguns.

The release said that according to investigations Hitkin was hired by one of the men at the Stabroek area to go to Plaisance. While travelling along the railway embankment at Goedverwagting, the man requested to stop. When Hitkin stopped the car two other men came up to the vehicle.

They held him at gunpoint and robbed him of $10,000, a cell phone and a pair of boots.

The three men then escaped in the vehicle, HB 4372. During the robbery the victim was struck to his head with a firearm.
Investigations are continuing.
