Carpenter shot in fracas with businessman

A heated argument over a house resulted in a Lusignan carpenter being shot by a businessman yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred at about 1.05pm yesterday at Annandale South, East Coast Demerara, a police press release issued last evening said. Koopaul Oudit, a carpenter, was shot and injured in his right foot.

According to the police, Oudit was involved in an argument over a house with a businessman who is a licensed firearm holder. It was reported, the police stated, that Oudit struck the businessman with a hammer to his head and then allegedly attacked him with a cutlass resulting in him being shot.

Both Oudit and the businessman were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for medical treatment.
