A Guyanese man, who reportedly shot a man dead last Saturday in the US, was apprehended by law enforcement authorities at Miami airport as he attempted to board a plane to Guyana.

Reports are that 26-year-old Parasurama Rabindranauth was held on Wednesday at the Miami-Dade International Airport where he was booked on a flight to Guyana.

Police had been looking for Rabindranauth since last Saturday, when 38-year-old Michael Sembhudyal was shot to death in his Waterbury home.

Authorities had flagged his passport, and Waterbury detectives were alerted when he booked the flight. He was arrested without incident, police told the media.

According to reports, Rabindranauth dated Sembhudyal’s cousin for six years before they split up, which led to an ongoing dispute over money that had been spent on real estate.

The reports said an argument on Saturday escalated, and Rabindranauth fatally shot Sembhudyal once in the chest. Police said they are still searching for the handgun used in the homicide. Following the shooting, Rabindranauth drove to Naugatuck, ditched his vehicle, rode with a relative to New York and boarded a bus to Miami.
