Sisters Village to get potable water

GWI says it will provide potable water to Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara from this week.

According to a press release from the Region Three administration Chairman Julius Faerber met with Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) Divisional Manager Aubrey Roberts and other officials about the issue on Monday. Residents told the meeting that the pumps at Belle View and Vriesland were incapable of supplying water to some parts of the village.

In response Robert told them that leakages and wastage in the network had affected water pressure. He said over the last six weeks GWI was able to rectify some of the leakages and work is ongoing to repair others. In the meantime he said residents west of Duncan Street between Bindraban Street and Sideline Dam would receive potable water three days per week.

In relation to payment Roberts said the community has not had a regular supply of water for a very long time and assured them that adjustments would be made to their accounts.
