A 50-year-old Hadfield Street resident is believed to the country’s latest victim of leptospirosis.
Ralph Stewart, of 5 Hadfield Street, died last night at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

According to the man’s relatives, Stewart had been ill for some time but it was only last evening that he was taken to the hospital. When the man arrived at the hospital, it was discovered that he had the symptoms of the water-borne disease. Stewart, however, died shortly after he arrived at the hospital.

Relatives said that the compound in which the man lived has been inundated for the past few weeks and that recently a dog had died in the water.
