$50,000 bail each for five break and enter accused

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Roberson granted $50,000 bail each to five men accused of break and enter and larceny from the Horse Shoe Racing Service.

Ulric De Freitas, 45, of 100 Leopold Street, Leroy Gorriah, 30, of Craig, East Bank Demerara (EBD), Peter Khan, 47, of  Lot 45 Meadow Bank, EBD,  Jermaine Forde, 27, of Lot 12 Sussex  Street, Charlestown and Linion Vitallis, 27, of 55 Cross Street, Werk-en-Rust, all pleaded not guilty to the charge when they appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that between January 8 and 9, the men broke and entered the said premises and stole $34,000, property of Mohamed Khan.

In his bail application De Freitas and Gorriah’s attorney said they would return to court when called. Vitallis’s lawyer applied for bail saying his client is a taxi-driver whose car is currently impounded at the Brickdam Police Station.

However, the prosecution told the court that all of the men’s fingerprints were found in the area from where the money had been stolen which led to them being charged.

The men were ordered to appear in Court Two on February 5.
