Two phone card vendors yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson to answer to the charges of disorderly behaviour and assault.

Subrina Singh was charged with assault to Norma Griffith and disorderly behaviour, while Griffith was charged with disorderly behaviour. Both women pleaded guilty to the joint charge of disorderly behaviour while Singh pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault.

It was alleged that January 12 at Georgetown, both Singh and Griffith were behaving in a disorderly manner. They both admitted to having been spoken to by police officers regarding their disorderly behaviour, but continued nevertheless.

Singh, who is Griffith’s sister-in-law, told the court that Griffith had made a derogatory remark about her brother and she in turn made some derogatory remarks about Griffith and a heated argument ensued.

According to Griffith, when she was about to go to the police to report the matter since she did not want any further problems, Singh pushed her in her head.

Twenty-eight-year-old Singh of 25 Mocha Arcadia was placed on $7,000 bail on the charge of assault and fined $10,000 on the charge of disorderly behaviour.

Meanwhile, 26-year-old Griffith of 17 Independence Boulevard, East La Penitence was placed on a bond to keep the peace for nine months.
