A 29-year-old miner died on January 14 in the Cuyuni river area after allegedly being electrocuted. This is according to a police press release.

Dead is Trevor Kooseram. Police in the release further stated that investigations have so far revealed that Kooseram was working on a dredge when it is alleged that he turned on a generator and apparently came into contact with an exposed wire.

He was electrocuted and fell into the river the release stated; efforts are being made to recover the body.
