Don Gomes plans Obama inauguration march

In celebration of the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama as the forty-fourth president of the United States of America, the Don Gomes establishment will hold a march of recognition on January 20.

A press release issued yesterday from the organization, said the march will be held to honour what is considered by many as the “most significant even since world war two.”

The march will start from Independence Arch on Brickdam at 11:00 hours; head west in Brickdam and turn right into Camp Street, then west into Middle Street to the Parade ground. At the ground, a musical programme will unfold after which the inauguration will be shown on wide screen. Several prominent individuals from the government and other organizations will then make short presentations. The programme will then end with a musical rendition of songs that have become popular since Obama’s victory; video clips from his many speeches will also be shown.

The release added that many persons have already indicated their intention to take part in the march which will include steel pan music and flag waving.
