Cabinet at its meeting on Monday cleared the over $176M contract for the construction of the Guyana Power & Light generating plant in the Kingston area, according to Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon.
The foundation of the 20.7 megawatt power station will be constructed and the project would see the persons who are occupying the Lamaha Railway Embankment being removed.

They are expected to move by the middle  of next month even though some of the residents have been asking for more time as the land they have been given has been waterlogged due to the rainy season.
