The Mayor and City Council said it does not solicit funds from the public to fulfil its mandate and no citizen should give money to anyone for such works.

In a press release the council said it has been informed that a “con artist” has been visiting businesses using the name of its Public Relations Officer Royston King to solicit money for conducting drainage works in the city. It said such works are done using rates citizens pay to the treasury and as such the public should report any person making such demands to the City Constabulary.
