Parika farmer, 19, charged with carnal knowledge

A 19-year-old Parika, East Bank Essequibo farmer has been remanded to prison after appearing at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on a charge of carnally knowing a 14-year-old girl.

Nansham Budram called ‘Naro’ was not required to plead to the charge of carnal knowledge of a girl under 15 years and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fazil Azeez yesterday. It is alleged that between January 3 and February 5, he had carnal knowledge of the 14-year-old girl. The matter was reported and following investigations, he was arrested and charged.

Budram told the court that the two are “boyfriend and girlfriend”. He will return to the Leonora Magistrate’s court on March 3 for report.
