A man, who allegedly obtained a total of $150,000 from three persons by falsely offering to provide them with acres of  land and houses, was remanded to prison yesterday when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Forty-two-year-old Terry Abrams of Tucville pleaded not guilty to three counts of obtaining money by false pretence.
It is alleged that between January 13 and February 9, Abrams with intent to defraud, obtained a total of $150,000 from Michelle Peters, Marcia Pollard and Onika Edwards under the pretext that he was employed at the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security and that he was in the position to obtain several acres of land and houses for them, even though he knew that this was not so.

Prosecutor Denise Griffith objected to bail for Abrams when he applied for it. She stated that several other persons had made similar reports to the police station against Abrams.

The magistrate subsequently ordered that Abrams be remanded to prison and that he appear again in court on February 27.
