DJ charged with bilking Fidelity

A DJ and television and radio host yesterday pleaded not guilty to the charge of embezzlement by clerk or servant when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrates Court. It is alleged that between October 1 and December 31, 2008, 34-year-old Stan Gouveia of 416 Cane View Avenue, South Ruimveldt, being employed by Commodi-ties Store Incorporated, an outlet of Fidelity Invest-ments Incorporated, fraudulently embezzled the sum of $56,000 from the company and converted it to his own use.

Gouveia’s lawyer, attorney-at-law Paul Fung-A-Fat, made an application for bail to be granted in a reasonable sum on the grounds that his client poses no risk of flight and has been cooperating with the police in their investigations. He added that his client is “working out the matter with Fidelity.”

Gouveia, who the prosecution listed as Executor-Promoter of Fidelity Investments Incorporated, was subsequently placed on $70,000 bail and has to return to court on March 31 for reports.
