Youmun Nabi to be celebrated next Tuesday

Youmun Nabi, the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad, will be celebrated on March 10, which will be a national holiday.

The new moon of the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awal in the Islamic Year 1430 A.H. was sighted on the evening of February 26, the Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG) said in a press release.

Muslims across the country will be visiting their masjids to listen to lectures on the life of Prophet Muhammad and will partake in a day of togetherness, the release added.

The president and executives of the CIOG are calling on all masjids to organize Youmun Nabi functions and to encourage the participation of all Guyanese in these celebrations.
