Boil water from Shelter Belt –GWI

The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) has issued a boil order for consumers who are served by the Shelter Belt.

In a press release GWI said the boil order is precautionary as the East Demerara Water Conservancy is currently conducting emergency maintenance works.

To ensure safety of water in the home all tap water intended for food and drink preparation and personal consumption (brushing of teeth) should be boiled for at least three minutes. All boiled water while cooling before use must be stored in a covered container.

GWI advises consumers to implement this order until further notice.
