Stabroek News understands that the accident occurred shortly before 8 pm last night. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

Morris Jeffrey, the owner of minibus BKK 597, told this newspaper last night that he received a call around 8 pm and was informed that his driver had been involved in an accident.  Jeffrey said he was told by traffic ranks that the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road.

“We were told that he was in an accident and he was taken to the hospital for medical attention but we haven’t heard anything else,” Jeffrey reported. The minibus, according to Jeffrey, should have been transporting passengers at the time but he was not sure if this was the case.
