Three held after Good Hope robbery

Three persons have been arrested and are expected to be charged shortly over a suspected armed robbery which occurred last evening at Good Hope, East Coast Demerara.

According to a police press release, the police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred around 7.30 pm at Good Hope, during which a female resident was attacked and robbed by three men, one of whom was armed with a knife.

Investigations so far have revealed that Dianne Singh was walking to her home when she was confronted by the men, who held her up and took away her jewellery, and a shoulder bag which contained a cellular phone, a cosmetics set and $380.

According to a police release, the victim raised an alarm and public-spirited citizens chased the perpetrators who ran into the Mon Repos area. Two of them were subsequently arrested by members of the Block 8 Community Policing Group who were on patrol in the community and, who were acting on information received. The third man was arrested at Good Hope. The cosmetics set and a knife were recovered by the police.
