Accused gunpoint cell phone robber remanded

A gunpoint robbery accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbery under arms yesterday when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on March 20, 2008, being armed with a gun, Amile Marks robbed Wilfred Jones of one L6 cell phone valued $23,700, property of the said Wilfred Jones.
The Police Prosecutor pointed to the prevalence of the offence and asked that the defendant be remanded and a date set for statements.

The unrepresented Marks was subsequently remanded to prison and has to return to court on April 20.
