Girl dies after West Demerara accident

An 18-year-old girl died at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after being struck down by a mini-bus while she was riding her bicycle on the Schoon Ord, West Bank Demerara (WBD) public road on Saturday.

Dead is Tenisha Hudson of Pouderoyen, WBD. Police said in a statement that they are investigating the incident and the driver of the bus is in custody. The police said that investigations revealed that at about 8:30 pm on Saturday, the driver of the mini-bus passed another vehicle on the inside and struck down Hudson, who was riding a bicycle and proceeding in the same direction.

She was taken to the GPH where she succumbed to her injuries while the driver of the bus was taken into custody.
