A 26-year-old pregnant mother of two was yesterday stabbed several times by her ex-boyfriend, who was later held by police at Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.

Ann Singh was last night transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) for treatment. She sustained stabs to her back and shoulder. A neighbour told Stabroek News that at about 6:30 pm, she heard the sound of someone calling her and when she went out, she saw Singh bleeding on the floor.  Singh lived with her mother at the Bush Lot Housing Scheme.

The neighbour said that Singh whispered that her ex-reputed husband and father of one of her children had stabbed her before falling unconscious. It was not clear what led to the stabbing and the man, who is no longer with Singh, left the home. He was later held by police in the village. Singh is said to be five months pregnant.

A few minutes to 10 pm, she was being transferred to the GPH.
