Shot bus driver has bullet lodged in jaw

Lincoln Bristol, the Sophia minibus driver who was shot by gunmen last Wednesday, remains hospitalized with a bullet lodged in his jaw.

Bristol, 69, of 273 A Field Sophia, is listed as being in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he has been recovering.

When Stabroek News visited the mini-bus driver at his hospital bed yesterday, he said that the police had taken statements from him but added that no one had since been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to Bristol, he had to undergo another surgery yesterday morning since the stitch from an initial surgery had ruptured and added that he still has a bullet lodged in his jaw. It is expected to be removed shortly.

Meanwhile, apart from occasional abdominal pains, Bristol related to this newspaper that he fells a little better every day.

According to information reaching Stabroek News the man had just arrived home when he was attacked by two men. In addition to the shot to the jaw, he was shot in his left leg and abdomen and had a piece of his ear bitten off during a scuffle with gunmen who attacked him after he drove into his yard. Bristol was relieved of about $10, 000 from the men who later fled the area.
