The reputed husband of Pamela Mangru appeared at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court yesterday, charged with her murder and was remanded to prison.
Julian Devon Limerick, 31, of 79 New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara, was not required to enter a plea to the capital offence and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fazil Azeez. It is alleged that on April 1 at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, he murdered Mangru.
Reports are that on the night in question, the couple was overheard arguing and some time after, Limerick was seen leaving the home after he had padlocked both the door and the gate. The woman’s landlord, suspecting something was amiss, contacted relatives and the police and when the door was kicked down by the lawmen the woman’s bloodied body was discovered. Limerick had reportedly calmly walked out of the New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop home after knifing the woman, who would have celebrated her 40th birthday last week Friday.
He was being sought by police and turned himself in to the lawmen at the Springlands Police Station at about 2:20 pm on Monday.
A post-mortem examination on Mangru revealed that she was stabbed three times in the throat with her killer turning the knife and leaving a hole, from which she bled to death. The woman had some ten stab wounds about the body.
Limerick was unrepresented by counsel and after the matter was heard, the magistrate ordered that he be taken to the hospital after a medical was produced, which stated that he was suffering from anxiety and depression. He will return on May 20 to the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court for report.
