Don Gomes group cleaning Luckhoo pool area

Don Gomes and his Enjoy Georgetown Group is cleaning and beautifying the area once occupied by the Luckhoo Swimming Pool in time for Easter kite-flying. According to a press release the group started cleaning yesterday from 8 am and will continue the exercise tomorrow from 8am till 2pm. The group said the location is the “forgotten widest expanse and perhaps the most beautiful area of Demerara’s view of the Atlantic Ocean” and is known for its hurricane-like winds.

The group aims to restore “the brown sand and palm tree dotted area” which provides easy parking for dozens of vehicles, is free of electric wires and is “sprinkled with shiny granite rocks” within arm’s reach of the famous Fort Groyne jetty with assistance from the Georgetown prisons and GT&T.

The group lauds the willingness of Director of Prisons Dale Erskine, his staff and the inmates for contributing to this endeavour.

The release said too help and advice are welcome. Persons interested in participating and contributing to the exercise can contact Gomes on telephone numbers 226-5489 or 610-6753.
