According to Luncheon, Colin Croal has been identified to assume the post of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Legal Affairs. He has replaced Mitra Devi Alli who is to take up an ambassadorial posting. Luncheon disclosed that Alli will be taking up the post of Guyana’s Ambassador to Cuba.

Meanwhile, former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs Emile McGarrell has been reassigned to the post of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Housing and Water. This post was previously held by Claudette Moore.

The post vacated by McGarrell within the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs will be taken up by Nigel Dharamlall.  Dharamlall was recently appointed as Chief Fisheries Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, a post he assumed following last year’s Carifesta X celebrations, when he served as the Chief Executive Officer for the event.

Luncheon also announced that Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Doerga Persaud has been appointed as the Executive Officer and the Commissioner of Lands and Surveys at the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission.

In turn, Dr Indrajit Ramdass has now been promoted to the post of Executive Director of that body.

Stabroek News understands that these appointments are with immediate effect.
