The University of Guyana Berbice Campus has donated a quantity of computers to what it has identified as the neediest secondary schools in Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne).

According to a press release from the university, the schools receiving computers were Tutorial Academy, Berbice Educational Institute, Skeldon Line Path Secondary and Manchester Secondary.

Director of the Berbice Campus Professor Daizal R. Samad who presented the head teachers of the various schools with the computers was quoted in the press release as saying, “this is but a little gift but that it is hoped that it will bring some relief to secondary school students as they prepare for the coming CXC examinations.”

Also present at the simple handing over ceremony was Deputy British High Commissioner Simon Bond who expressed pleasure at being part of the gesture by the university towards the children of the region.

The release also stated that the school’s representatives conveyed gratitude for the donations made and pledged to care for the equipment.
